Life is goooooood
Jun. 16th, 2008 04:06 pmSummer Intern Lackey started today, and while she's a little overwhelmed, she's taking to QuickBooks fairly well, which means I should be able to pass off a large portion of the "shuffle paper" accounting off onto her.
Previous Lackey Who Went Missing For A While is looking at new cars to replace the one that died and left him unable to get to work very much (and typically only on Tuesdays when I'm not in), and should be back to a normal-ish schedule soon.
And Programmer Soon-To-Be-Minion-I'm-Sure Lackey has confirmed receipt of his laptop. While I expect there will be a few days of configuring the laptop to his tastes before any real work begins, there is definite progress towards real work.
All of this combines to mean that shortly, I should be able to devote much more of my time towards getting a bunch of one-time projects done, some of which are to finally bring closure to old things that ought to be DONE by now but aren't (I'm looking at you, Mr. "I dispute the charges from three years ago but I won't accept your settlement offer that even I know is generous and I also won't have my employees do any of the work to provide any documentation on what I think the charges ought to have been"), and some of which are to make life at the office better overall (better billing layouts, fixing niggling little crap that we work around because it's easier in the short-term, re-arranging really old processes into a more sensible and consistent layout, documenting everything under the sun, etc).
On the "it's a miracle, I tell you!" front, a check from our most-likely-to-bounce-checks customer cleared. On the first try!
