A quick comment on advertising
Jul. 22nd, 2011 08:35 pmWe're constantly bombarded by tons and tons of advertising, and as a culture we're pretty good at ignoring it. But just now, I voluntarily watched an ad-- one that has a little X in the top corner, so I could have closed it at any time. But it was for Old Spice, and I wanted to see if it was the funny "Look at me, look at your man" guy.
The takeaway from this for advertisers is that you can have my attention if you spend the effort to create a consistently funny campaign. Otherwise, bugger off, I'm busy.
