I have realized why I hate Twitter

Until recently, I thought it was just apathy coupled with an "I don't get why this is supposed to be cool" attitude, but now I realize that I actively hate Twitter. It's all because of the "@" tag. People end up having conversations in which they reply to each other-- which is fine, if you get to see both sides of the conversation. But most of the time, I just get to see one half, because I'm not friends with the other person.
It's like sitting with your friend, listening to them while they're on the phone with someone else. Permanently. Only you don't have the ability to ask "What did he say?" when you can't follow the conversational flow.
