The live game is done, long live the live game! (The next one has already been announced for May of 2013.)
All in all, it went very well. Each time, we learn new valuable lessons for the next time, and this was no exception (next time: more organization!) But this time, we had a smaller group, and in some ways that worked for the best, since we didn't remove any of the plotlines that we came up with when we were planning for 40 players. The result was a more intense game.
There's a post-mortem discussion going between the gamemasters, but from a site perspective...
Putting out sunscreen and bug spray = good. A couple people still got sunburned, but I feel no guilt whatsoever over it.
More ice. We bought 15 bags for the first "fill the coolers" round, but there was a lack of clarity in the instructions. Fortunately 4 of the initial 15 ended up in the freezer, so they came out.
5 cases of water is more than enough. However, spreading it out into multiple places may have been better.
Next time, I'm tying the lawn guy up and holding him hostage. Not being able to get a hold of either of them meant not getting the lawn mowed, which didn't help the bug situation any.
PastMe did PresentMe a huge favor and booked an appointment with a massage therapist for me for today. Must remember to put that on the "Pre-Game Checklist."
