Yesterday I stopped and picked up some baby toys, in a desperate attempt to stop the screaming.
For those who are suddenly confused and wondering if it could possibly have been nine months since you've seen me (and yes, it could have been), it's not my kid. He belongs to two of my employees, and since I'd like to keep both of them and get useful work out of them, there is a 3-month-old in the office a couple days a week. (Daycare would be another option if his parents got paid a decent wage, but we're still running a bit tight on cash flow.)
The bouncy saucer seems to be a hit, though I can't tell who likes it better, the baby or his mother. It's got a ring of toys around it, but at 3 months he's not quite focused enough to really play with them, so right now it's just something to bounce in. And it doesn't help any of the "I'm tired" crying. But it was still worth the $6 I paid for it at the Salvation Army store.

Date: 2005-10-07 08:07 pm (UTC)May I suggest a bouncer, musical toy or Sassy toys to the parents, via you? They were lifesavers for us when Sonya was a wee one.
I apologize for the huge urls..

Date: 2005-10-07 08:33 pm (UTC)No biggie on the URLs. He actually has some of the toys (or some that look awfully similiar, anyway), but he hasn't quite gotten the idea that his arms are attached and controllable, so most toys are lost on him. I looked at the bouncer when I was in Target, and almost got it. I ended up going with a baby gym thing with lights and hanging toys instead (which hasn't been tried yet, since the saucer went over well enough today to keep him mostly happy). On previous occassions I have purchased some pacifiers (he doesn't like pacifiers, though, so that was pretty much a bust), and some rattles that velcro around his wrist (which he doesn't quite get yet; I suspect he'd like them more if I put them around his foot instead, since he kicks more than he waves his arms).
The soother is neat. I may pick one of those up.

Date: 2005-10-08 12:29 am (UTC)The soother is really neat. We bought it for Madison and we had one similar for Sonya. How come no one tells you how much gear is necessary for a baby's entertainment? *boggles*
