All in all, a decent holiday dinner. Despite never having cooked a turkey before, I managed to pull off a pretty decent one, with many thanks to Lisa, Mia, and teh intertubes. Which is good, because I still have 2/3 of the meat as leftovers.

John's mother behaved herself, and even kept her snide comments about my housewifely skills (or lack thereof) to a minimum. John's dad was pleasant, as usual. I was reminded of how much I like my aunt and cousin, and how I really need to see more of them. We forgot to warn John not to let Uncle Graydon talk about religion, but other than the hour or so of my uncle trying to convert my husband to Southern Baptist (now with more mysogeny!), there were no issues.

Next year, though, no sick nieces or nephews.

People coming sick to holidays is something that sort of drives me nuts. It's one thing if you have some allergy flareup or something generally mild, but it's another thing entirely to come with something contagious that no one wants. I know people want to participate in things, but it's frustrating to me to always be exposed to even more germs (my job exposes me to plenty). I have several family members that do it and some of them even suck at covering their mouth when they cough or sneeze.
