It's often struck me as sad that, as modern technology-consuming folk, our expectations of quality and service are so lowered that it's amazing when something *does* work as advertised, or a company *does* treat you like a valued customer. On the other hand, however, I appreciate the myriad self-service options (online bill pay, automated grocery checkout, etc.) that have sprung up to replace such - great service is a plus, but let me do it myself and I'll probably be just fine with that.
