I can live with it when sites re-arrange things*, but it pisses me off when they remove useful functionality for no good reason.

Today's trigger? Gmail used to have an option for "Add this person to my contacts" when someone new sent you mail. It was a drop-down option while you were viewing the mail, making it very handy. In their recent re-arrange, they removed that option-- now I can "Add to circles", which would be great if I actually used the damned things, but adding someone to my circles doesn't actually add them to my address book. Because that would be USEFUL, and we can't have that.

On a related note, I've been seriously considering moving away from Gmail. If you've got a web-based mail provider that you adore, I'd love to hear about them.

* Though I cannot fathom why they don't add options for basic things. Google also re-arranged their calendar, and the two things I hatehatehate about the "new look" are the two things that have no earthly reason for being changed other than "we thought it looked cooler". Great, but I don't, so could I have some little checkbox options somewhere to make it 1) stop putting diagonal lines through entries I can't edit in other people's calendars (I don't care that I can't edit it, but now I also can't read it) and 2) use the bolder color palette from before instead of the washed-out one everything has switched to? When the re-arranges add more ad space to generate more revenue for the site, I understand why I can't have a setting to remove them. When you've changed the damned color scheme, it doesn't do the site any good if I hate it, so why not let me change it back to what I didn't hate?
