K, who is renting my mom's house, got a notice of foreclosure taped to his door on Friday. Naturally, I called to find out WTF, and this is how the conversation went:
Me: "I have in one hand, a printout from your website showing that my last payment was on 5/1/09 and there's a zero past-due balance. In the other hand, I have a foreclosure notice dated 6/2/09, a full month later. What's going on?"
Bank Rep: *typing, putting me on hold, etc* "It looks like the first is in foreclosure, so that's why we followed."
Me: "?? The first what?"
Bank Rep: "The first mortgage. It's in foreclosure."
Me: "There IS no first mortgage."
Yeah. Still working on what they think is the first mortgage; I had to stop and fax over a bunch of paperwork before they would continue to talk to me, because despite giving them a Power of Attorney two years ago, they claim to know nothing about it.
