Selfish *&@#)(*$!
Aug. 23rd, 2008 03:16 pmI just talked to my aunt, who called to say that she will not be able to make it to the funeral or luncheon tomorrow. She had a nervous breakdown some years ago, and she's been so distraught over Mom's death all week that she is barely coping. She was in tears during the entire call, to the point that I am worried about her and considering driving over there just to make sure she's okay.
And now I am furious. Not at my aunt, at my mother.
Her death was completely senseless, brought on by her refusal to manage her diabetes in the slightest, and her denial that there was any risk at all in that refusal. It's bad enough that she put me through hell for over a year, but never once did it occur to her that her actions have an effect on other people as well. So many other people are hurting right now because she couldn't be bothered to cut down on her sugar intake or take the correct dosages of insulin.
