I don't have a sinus infection. Or rather, I no longer have a sinus infection. The pain in my throat is not due to sinus drainage.
A full diagnoses requires some lab work to come back first, but the current front-runner is Thyroiditis. That's a generic term for something going on with my thyroid gland, which could be as simple as a bit of inflammation to as complex as thyroid cancer. The most common version is somewhere in between. Treatment for each is different, so until that lab work comes back, I have Darvocet to kill the pain.
It works, mostly. Talking still hurts, coughing still hurts a LOT, and swallowing is still touch-and-go. I'm hoping that there's a ramp-up period, where one pill is still in your system when you take the next one.
I was going to comment that this came out of the blue, but when I started reading about the symptoms that aren't "Oh my God I want to claw my neck off", it may have been hanging around for a while.
So on the plus side, once all those tests come back and we figure out what's really going on, I may feel quite a bit better than expected, as I may have had this for longer than I thought.
