Vacation recap, part two
Apr. 1st, 2008 10:01 pmWe're home safe.
Given Lisa's "oh, no!" comment on the first half of the recap, I feel I should point out that it was still a fabulous vacation, and I'd totally do it over again. Right now, even. (I still didn't want to leave even after the extra day.)
Tif got a hold of Peter and let him know about our flight delay, so I didn't get to surprise him (*sniff*). I still got to cuddle, though, so it's all good.
One of the good things about returning late is that the shuttle bus drivers have little to do and are bored. We had parked about a bazillion miles away from the terminal in Detroit (it's all one big parking deck, and it was pretty full, so we ended up on the far side of it). The walk wasn't all that bad on the way into the airport, because it was early in the day and I was geeked about leaving. I wasn't looking forward to it on the way back home, though, because it was 10pm and I was tired and cramped from being on the plane and didn't want to go home anyway. So as we walked past the shuttle bus for the parking structure, I suggested to John that we ought to take it, as it would at least get us closer (we were parked on the 5th deck, and the shuttle only stops at the 1st and 3rd decks, but it stops near the elevator). The driver was a nice woman who felt sorry for me being tired and decided to take us right up to our car even though it's not technically where she stops. (I'd have given her a $10 tip, but I didn't have any tens. So I gave her a twenty instead. It was worth it not to walk.)
