Mounds of stuff
Dec. 15th, 2007 02:13 pmI am currently drowning in boxes and boxes of Stuff.
Mom finally realized that she's not going to be returning to her home Really Soon Now(tm), and agreed to let me sell it and her car (savings per month once both are gone: $1600, between the interest-only mortgage, the car payment, and the insurances). However, this means I have to clean all of her belongings out of the house.
It's probably worth noting that my mother has felt for the past five or six years that she "couldn't afford" to pay for trash pickup, so she has brought her trash can over to our house to be picked up here. When it was her doing the heavy lifting, I sighed and said "whatever." Now it's me doing the heavy lifting, and it's bloody well annoying. It also means that absolutely everything is ending up in my basement, because there's not a lot of point to sorting it out prior to moving it.*
Many thanks to Kevin, who has been amazingly helpful. I think he's done as much boxing and hauling as I have.
* Not that that's stopped me from sorting as I go. Sometimes I haul boxes home, and sometimes I haul trash bags home.
