I had totally forgotten how much fun a laser pointer can be with a cat. Kira would chase it for about 15 minutes, but after a few months of playing with her she figured out where the light was coming from, and would attack your hand instead. I ended up giving the laser pointer to my mom for her two cats. That was.... three years ago?
I picked up another laser pointer for Sisko a few days ago, and he'll chase it for hours. He's always surprised when it "disappears", and when we turn it off because our fingers hurt from holding the button down for nearly an hour, he cries and hunts under all the furniture for the red dot that's gone missing.
Best of all, the longer he chases the pointer, the more he sleeps at night.
